Berkshire Addition

New additions to an existing circa 1775 two story timber framed Berkshire, Massachusetts farmhouse include: an entry porch, mudroom, ground floor master bedroom, and connection to the existing structure. Our design intention was to maintain and extend the quality and simplicity of the existing early building fabric while updating the functional requirements of the retired owners. Careful attention was paid to both interior and exterior woodworking, including insulated windows and doors to harmonize with existing size and type, a new covered entry porch (with exterior entry landscaping work to follow) that formed a seamless tie-in with the existing covered side porch and the interior exposed ceiling beam. The existing early pine flooring was repurposed.
